Running Log #3

On Friday I stuffed blue cheese into pimento olives, sliced triple cream brie, wrapped the excess in foil to age. Afterwards, I sat at the bar developing trivia for trivia night. Afterafterwards we headed south to Seattle to sleepover for the pntf champs. M's place sits above the lake; we went shopping for groceries to make a pre-race meal: pasta with chicken sausage & parm, red wine & bubbly. I mentioned something about needing magic & was referred to the Tarahumara & the chia drink. Thus, we gathered chia seeds, lime, water & agave, watched the chias bloom gluttonous against the water. A sort of the magic appeared in that I stayed up all night watching Orange is the New Black. In the morning I ate thick cut bread with peanut butter and bananas, coffee & the chia drank. Put the race garb on, and we headed to lower woodland park. I had forgotten that I'd raced there before; the time I stayed up all night with a toothache & ran horribly, which resulted in falling off from running for cnw. I believed in the power of the chia more than I believed in the half bottle of red wine I'd had, and chia won out, because despite warming up for maybe a mile & little-to-no stretching, I felt strong in the race. It wasn't a great time, I've run faster in college, but it felt good as good can feel when you run the same 2k loop x 3 & all of it feels like a hill. Before the start I was given the best hug of my life from BG, his small frame picking me up into the air. Post race the girls & I gathered at Portage Bay Cafe, known for it's pancake & french toast self-serve bar full of fruits & sweets & creams.
S & I visited L, to see her Ballard home tucked behind an old rusted mustang. We ate candies & watched tv. I felt so full of energy [which must have been the chias] that I went for a walk alone, called my father & he said, "It sounds like you're on speed."
